EDDA FRANSISKA KJARVAL
Edda Fransiska Kjarval didn't know she wanted to be writer until she found herself in a screenwriting class at the Icelandic Film School in early 2000. With a background in fine art and photography, she always knew that the media of film interested her, but not until that fateful day did she know it was in fact screenwriting that was her calling.
She took part in the school's script competition, with the prize of getting her first ever script produced. She and her classmate won and Edda had the good fortune to see her first ever script on the big screen, premiered in front of an eager audience.
So it began.
Cut To - Four distracting years at art school, where Edda put her writing abilities on hold - or until her brain could not take the abuse any longer. She enrolled in an 8-week screenwriting workshop in New York, spending her summer in Chelsea town, writing a feature script under the guidance of screenwriter John Krokidas.
After those 8 weeks, Edda was more convinced than ever. She was a screenwriter. So after receiving her BA in fine art from The Iceland Academy of the Arts, she set out to master the craft of screenwriting.
In 2006 Edda somehow ended up in Scotland, having applied to the Screen Academy Scotland to do a Masters in screenwriting, getting a positive reply and moving to Edinburgh a few months later. Whilst doing her MA in screenwriting, Edda met Laura and Andrew, her fellow 3AKTers.
The rest is… still to be written.
